Le Firkin is the Maison's centrepiece — the signature silhouette, rendered in its original material. A full-grain cowhide leather, chosen for its tight grain and its hold, lined in leather. It doesn't shine: it absorbs the light, and gives it back in depth.

The padlock clasp opens in one gesture. The handles fall just right. Every seam is a decision. Over the years the leather takes on a patina — it doesn't age, it remembers.

Three sizes — 25, 30 or 35 cm — and nine shades: Camel, Ivoire, Onyx, Éléphant, Gris tourterelle, Bleu, Bleu lin, Orange, Rouge. Each with a gold or silver buckle.

Le Firkin is the Maison's leather handbag: the signature silhouette — flap, padlock-style clasp, round handles — in full-grain cowhide leather lined in leather. What is full-grain leather?

Full grain is the top layer of the hide, the one that carries the natural grain. It is neither sanded down nor covered with a film: the grain you see is the real one. It is the most hard-wearing part of the leather, and the only one that develops a patina over the years.

What is the difference with Le Firkin PU?

The material, and nothing else. Full-grain leather is an animal hide: it carries a natural grain, takes on a patina over the years and needs care. PU is a synthetic material: it contains no leather, does not take on a patina, is unaffected by water and wipes clean with a damp cloth. The line and the clasp are identical; the PU version comes in one size and four shades. The price difference — €112 in 30 cm against €69.90 — corresponds to that difference in material. Will the leather take on a patina?

Yes, that is the point. Full-grain leather darkens slightly and gains a sheen where it is handled: the handles, the corners, the flap. It doesn't wear out: it takes on marks.

How do you care for the leather?

A soft, dry cloth day to day. Twice a year, feed the leather with a suitable milk or cream, applied in a thin layer. Keep the bag away from water and from prolonged direct sun.

How does it differ from the Maison's translucent bags?

The line is the same — the material changes. The translucent models, like the Jelly Firkin or the Croco Glacé, play on transparency and colour. Le Firkin renders that same silhouette in an opaque, matt material. Same padlock clasp, same fall of the handles.

Can you clip the charms onto it?

Yes. Every charm of the Maison — Cherry, Nazar, Chili, Sandal and the cords — clips onto the handles and the clasp of Le Firkin just as it does on the translucent models.
